High-speed secure data transfer platform
Designed and built infrastructure enabling 100+ gigabit data transfer between government, academic, and industry partners across multiple classification levels.
A government intelligence agency needed a platform to enable ultra-fast data transfer between DoD, academic institutions, industry partners, and foreign allies—spanning classification levels from unclassified to TS//SCI. The existing infrastructure couldn't support the bandwidth requirements or the complex security boundaries involved.
As one of three core engineers on the project, we architected a solution using containerized microservices deployed on Kubernetes (K3D, Rancher, Helm). We implemented comprehensive Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and Ansible, enabling consistent deployments across vastly different security environments.
The CI/CD pipeline we built automated testing, security scanning, and deployment while respecting the unique constraints of each classification level. We demonstrated early implementations to government sponsors, securing continued funding for the multi-year project.
The platform now enables research collaboration at speeds previously impossible, while maintaining strict security boundaries between partners. The IaC approach allows rapid deployment of new nodes as the network expands.
